Post by CalD »

Just contemplating what anyone who is using AWS ec2 instances are doing for backing up both their environments and the data/ associated external files with aware etc...?
I'm sure its probably been discussed before but can't find it.

Are you using Linux or Windows Cal?

For Windows I use Cloudberry Backup.

For our production environment, i take the normal RDS snapshots, EC2 snapshots and then a o/s level mysqldump (via a custom script) which then journals it across to a private S3 bucket.

RDS uses the aws nightly backup, retaining 14 days worth, and we keep 3 x monthly ones

Bash script to copy and zip and move to S3 for 3 important file directories
Rod. Aware 8.6 (latest build), Developer Edition, on OS Linux (Ubuntu) using GUI hosted on AWS EC2, MYSQL on AWS RDS
