MAc osx and excel

Post by pkesch »

Dear all,

I am quite new in working with documents and got stuck with excel document reports.

I created a document template in excel and imported it (based on an excisting query)

Now at runtime the query fires and asks me for the parameters.
But instead of getting the document I just get the following message:

Operation error. Document engine for template pipeline is not installed on the server or not working properly.

Based on the documentation osx should work with excel....

Any ideas???????

Best regards,
Peter

P.S. the report as such works fine

Did you specify Excel as the type of the document?

Can you check the BASServer.props file located in the BIN directory and see if the line that lists DocumentEngines includes the following:

com.bas.basserver.documents.MSExcelDocumentEngine

If not, please add this to the list and re-start Aware IM.

The new version will hopefully be ready in a few weeks.

Hi support,

Excel is specified as the type of the document and the Excel engine is listed in the DocumentEngines in the Bin directory.

Is there a example Excel integration in one of your sample applications? (so I could check if it is running at my server too... I just found word and text documents)

Do I have to save the excel template in a specific excel format?

Thanks in advance

This is a bug. We are preparing a service pack for it. We'll post a message when it is available.

Hi support,

great work! now I can generate Excel reports :-) Thanks a lot!!!!!!

And now a stupid question....

Report is generated but only the first record is displayed.

I have a query which selects all revenues in a specific year based on a customer. I run the query on a BO called revenues which shows the customer and the revenues (quite simple).

The query works and brings me back a number of records.

In my excel chart I just have one line with 2 columns:

<<revenues.customer>> <<revenues.total>>

Now with the latest build the excel is generated but with one line only.

I am almost sure that this is NOT a bug, just a stupid mistake from my side..

Any hint appreciated :-)

Best regards and thanks for the fast support,
Peter

Peter,

I believe AwareIM's Excel reports are limited to 1 instance of a BO per Excel report. You could export your query info to a CSV file & import to Excel although that obviously does not allow you to have other forumulas, etc already on the Excel spreadsheet.

Tom

PS - With Word docs there is a LIST_TABLE function that allows multiple instances of a BO on 1 Word doc.

Hi Tom,

I was afraid to get this feeback... I read in some posts here that there is this possibility in word but I read nothing about Excel.

This is a pitty... It would be so nice to generate high sophisticated Excel reports as Excel is a tool which is in use in almost all companies.
CVS export does not help too much as it does not allow to generate automated sheets with nice formulas, charts and so on.......

Anyway, thanks a lot for your feedback.

Best regards,
Peter
