Is it possible to hide the required input character (e.g. the red asterisk) when using VIEW action in a rule?
Even with the NO EDIT it still appears. This causes some confusion with users.

You can either modify the css or swap the image for a transparent .gif.

Thank yon nlarson - is it correct to assuming that will be need to be protected so that the next upgrade doesn't wipe either solution out?

Yes, but its it pretty easy to reimplement following an upgrade.

I am trying to find the asterick. Do you know which CSS it is in or which image it is?

CSS DDepends on which theme you are using. Image should be
C:\AwareIM\Tomcat\webapps\AwareIM\aware_ext\resources\images\ats.gif
