I have a txt attribute 2000 chars in a BO running on derby.
- I am able to create the business object with or without a value in this atribute.
- I am able to modify the value in the attribute and save and value is accepted
When this app is run against a SQL install, any data that is entered into this attribute whether at creation or change, is lost.

What does "running against a SQL install" mean? Do you mean when this application is used with SQL Server database?

Yes. Designed against Derby and now installed against MS SQL.
Problem only there with SQL

I see this is on the site for download.
I have a test distributed application on a client site, do I have to rebuild my setup and re-run on site ?

Yes, you have to rebuild the distribution with the new version.

I have rebuilt the system and run the new exe using Version 2 Build 863.
I still cannot get the field (2000 chars) to hold any values when running on SQL.

We have tested it again on our machines and it works fine! What are the detailed steps required to reproduce your problem?
