Pivot grid (Pivot table) on roadmap?

AwareIM is no longer using Sencha library. However, the Kendo UI, offers a nice Pivot Grid.

Pivot grids are on the roadmap, but probably not for the next version.

Any roadmap and/or direction where the next version is headed? i.e. More concentrated on IDE/Tooling system or introducing new UI components or adding more runtime actions and etc.?aware_support wrote:Pivot grids are on the roadmap, but probably not for the next version.

The following is not 100% yet, but is very likely. We are investigating our options at the moment:
The new version will have an entirely re-written Configuration Tool (IDE). It will be based on the Eclipse Platform. Major benefits for developers:
- Slick UI
- No nested screens (or very few)
- Should look the same on all platforms
- Embedded form preview with WISYWIG editor (almost)
- Embedded report designer editor (TBD still)
- Transparent testing mode (no need to put under test unless changes require database update)

OMG, this is going to be HUGE. The best decision going based on Eclipse platform. That's the same engine MSFT is also using for the new Visual Code.aware_support wrote:The following is not 100% yet, but is very likely. We are investigating our options at the moment:

Now, lots developers should be looking at the next gen Aware. Please make creating Plugins and incorporating into the Aware system very seamless.
Support, I'm SUPER excited. Thank you for this great news that the IDE is being re-done.

That sounds great!
What's the intended time scale for that version? Pointless question I know, but if you're going to tease us once you might as well tease us twice
And I notice once before someone asked that, the reply was a fairly accurate " a couple of months".

Timeframe is likely to be around 6 months.

Please include TBD in a rule:
Code: Select all
If TBD is UNDEFINED Then TBD='Yes'
Else
TBD='Yes'
"Reports" is a section where Aware needs to be improved

Re: Pivot grid (Pivot table) on roadmap?
Listening.
It's often seen as a lost art, but you do it so very well, Vladimir!
You do an amazing job of listening to AwareIM users and making the right strategic improvements in AwareIM at the right time. I've said it many times, but I've never experienced another software company that combines listening & laser focused development.
Each and every improvement you've made during my 9 years as a user has either allowed me to accomplish new and better results -OR- to achieve those results more quickly -OR- both.
Keep up the great work!
PS - By the way, on my original post on this thread I had been comparing pivot tables on the old Sencha library with those available in the new Kendo library and pasted the wrong link. Great to hear that pivot tables will become a reality in the future!

Re: Pivot grid (Pivot table) on roadmap?
I'm sure Support has learned a great deal from the IDE in the past 14 years and all the learning should result in a more efficient NEW IDE.
Eclipse platform will also bring a lot of goodies to the final product. Last year going with Kendo was a great move and now moving to Eclipse, takes the IDE right along all the new products.
A better code editor.
A better HTML editor.
[Hopefully] being able to use one pane to show all the attribute settings, for objects, forms, queries, documents, notifications and etc.
A better code Autocomplete/Content assist.
Be able to change resolution of the IDE.
Ability to hide/show of the panes in IDE.
Question Support;
In MSFT VS, companies like yourself who needed IDE for their product, they would write Extensions using VSSDK and build VSIX as their custom extension. So, is the new direction based on the Eclipse IDE's Plugin? Which means we install Eclipse first and then install your plugin on the top of it?
Thanks!
