XML Serializer undefined error - 8.4 Install Service - Win 2022

Post by james_richards »

Got the new server up and running on Windows Server 2022 and got the license sorted out with Vladimir. Then used the InstallService.bat and verfied that the services were running after a reboot too. Everything was great until a few days later I tried to edit a form on a business object and got this error:

"Unable to generate preview due to system error 'XMLSerializer' is undefined."

So this morning with no users on the system I stopped and ran the Control Panel to start AIM again and then was able to edit forms again. I've used the UninstallService.bat and can run it leaving the Control Panel open.

I will look through the configs on the old box (was about to destroy it). Curious if anyone has had something similar with Win Server 2022 or ?

Running 8.4

Are you new with aware?
How much ram does that server have?
I run multiple windows servers and separate apps, and none of them running aware as a service.
Is there some reason you think you need to do this?

Thank you for the reply Jaymer.

I've only been working with AIM since 8.4 so for about 4 years. I suspect that makes me a new user;)

The box has 16g ram.

The reason I want to run as a service is so if the Win Server has to restart, then I don't need to log into RDP and run the Control Panel so that my clients can have their application.

In this way I can have multiple users for the Win box that have different roles as well.

So, in that respect, I can see that no one else has run into this issue and I suspect it is a function of the fact that I'm running 8.4 on a Win 2022 box for the time being. That is fair. I'm in the process of upgrading some apps on another instance to AIM 9.0 and that will help me understand some of the likely nuances from the stack.

On another note the response to my posts seem to inform me that participating in this forum seems about as useful as asking a card shark their tricks. I do get it and understand why.

I also get that this forum is open to the public at large. I think this limit's it's usefulness to paid users, just sayin.

I got my answer by the near non-response so I'm good here.

I run ALL of my servers from the Control Panel now and use LogonExpert to restart Aware after a server restart....

That's cool and sorry I've been afk to miss your reply Jaymer.

I'm curious as to why use additional software to start the control panel instead of just run the AIM/Tomcat stack as services? It's nice to see the real time output on the Control Panel, but otherwise I could use some more info why another app in the mix is better. Again, I don't wanna bring up questions that are better offline respectfully. So, I take it all with a grain of salt.

The error with XML Serializer has nothing to do with services. If anything, it could be a browser problem. Were you running the same browser?
